Hi.

Ive got a defender 300TDi with a Safari Snorkel on the outside. Whatever numpty that had it before didnt connect it up and it was just for show. During the summer I bought a piece of flexible pipe from Ebay. The type that is used for boat engine compartment blowers. Its very strong as it has wire spiraling its length and quite flexible. I connected it to the section of pipe after the valve at the bottom of the existing pipe that lets any water that get in, drop out. (Sorry if thats confusing).

Anyway, the problem I have come accross with this is that this pipe gets rubbed against by the steering column. Over time this has worn through.

Anyone done anything similar on a DIY Snorkel project ? Where would be a good place to route the pipe ? :D

Use the inner wing to divert the flexi down into the engine bay then up onto the filter housing. Cable ties also help to keep the pipe immobile and prevent it from abrading.

OK. Thanks. Ill have a look into that. So the flexi would need to go off the snorkel and down the gap between the inner and outer wing. Is there an opening for it to get out at the bottom of the gap or do I need to drill out another big hole ?

How long would the pipe need to be roughly ?

Also, I paid about £15 quid for 500mm of the flexi pipe described above. Anyone know of a cheaper source or option ? The stuff I used looks like this http://img.directindustry.com/images_di/photo-m2/neoprene-coated-polyester-fabric-hose-565003.jpg
