Ok need some advice please....

Replaced the clutch today in my 1998 110 300tdi, pushed the pedal and it's not disengaging, lots of poking about and head scratching (not to mention taking the gb off again) later and I realise the cover plate on the new Borg & Beck hd clutch is about 1cm shallower then the old one. Hence the release bearing not going far enough forward to release the clutch. This raises a few questions...

Have I just been sent the wrong part (everything lined up and bolted on ok)

Do I need a specific B&B release bearing (is it deeper than the normal one I got) or is there a spacer I need to get.

Do I need a longer slave cylinder push rod

Anyone had this issue before?

Any advice on how to deal with this please

These are the two

Interesting. Your original clutch does look pretty chunky. Presuming that your new clutch is correct and the old one wrong, then some adjustment must have been made to get the wrong one to work?
It's done just under 100k so it could be the original or could be a replacement. I guess someone could have shortened the slave cylinder push rod (it's approx 10.5cm) don't know the correct lenght
