Hi
New problem today . never had this one before. So need help from learned friends on here.
Engine keeps cutting out but only seems to be when on the move. Car then starts up again ok but cuts out again after a short period of driving. Seems to tick over ok when stationery.
Three things for consideration,
1. The fuel is lower than I normally have it. It's just touching the red on the guage. Wonder whether the guage isn't that accurate and I'm lower on fuel than I think ?
2. When the engine cuts out the battery light goes on. ( red herring?) it goes off when the time nine fires up again.
3. I removed and dismantled the air filter box and filter this afternoon but I'm pretty sure I've put it all back together as it was.

Any thoughts from people cleverer than me?

Appreciate any pointers

When I got mine it has a similar problem, which may not have anything to do with yours, but it started and run for a while and then conked out after a short period of rough running, would start again, run, conk out etc.

I changed the fuel filter and it was fine after that.

But I did have fuel in mine.

Check wired terminal on the stop solenoid isn't dodgey. That's free to do and takes but a minute.
Top up the tank next.
Then fuel filter replace.
Report back if still no good.

Put some fuel in it first then go from there.
Final update on this and it's good news, kind of. I topped up fuel and it runs sweet as a nut. So clearly my fuel gauge isn't that accurate. Just need to make sure tank doesn't get down to that level again.
Thanks to all for your input.
