defender 200 running problems

hi ive put 200 tdi engine out of a discovery in my defender it starts staright away but i when i push the throttle it revs up abit then just loses all revs and tries to stall
has any one else ever heard of this prob need to get it sorted

check ya fuel lines where they connect to fuel filter. Had the same prob after putting a replacement engine in my old disco.. Had forgotten to tighten up1 of the fuel pipe banjos. and it was sucking in air.

Was it running OK in the Disco? Could be a blocked fuel filter / fuel line, there could be enough fuel getting in to tick over but not enough to rev up?

Could be a few things but that was the first thing that popped into my head!

yer it was running fine in the disco and when i first put it in the defender it used to start then stall after about a min but then would run fine

I'd check all the connections & bleed the fuel system again, if that doesn't sort it look for a restriction / blockage

had a look at her today and found the diesel filter was half full and there was no resistance on the fuel lift pump so im thinking it could a faulty lift pump
