Hi, I'm looking at purchasing a Defender 2.4 TDCi - Year 2010 - 80k miles. Has full-service history.
I'm not going to be able to get it professionally inspected in time before purchase, so are there any major issues to look for in this age of Defender, or would this be a relatively safe purchase due to FSH, year, mileage, etc? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

I do not have much to say other than get a good look underneath for rust. Good to have the service history that you mention also.

I have the same 2.4 model and a 2010 at that, purchased with about the same mileage (125k km - it is a LHD).
The only major task I did was to renew the steering swivel ball/joints as there was excessive play in the steering (excessive even for a Defender!).
Other than that it has been all good.

Good to know. Thank you!

Check the vin number behind the windscreen and on top of the brake master cylinder match the v5c, ditto with the chassis number and engine number. If there are any discrepancies, buyer beware. If you plug a nanocom into the diagnostics socket it will read the vin number stored in the ECU's. (Don't know if other diagnostic tools do this).
