Hi All,
Alex and I wanted to share our progress with our Defender 110 TD5 rebuild with you in case it is useful / you are interested.
Before the project started, mechanically (engine, brakes, gearbox, suspension) was all good. However we were aware that there was rust issues with at least the bulkhead. We are now down the the chassis and you can see from the images the bulkhead is an issue.
Going forward our aim is to replace anything required and rebuild so that this doesn’t need to be done again. We will be weather proofing the chassis, rejuvenating the engine, and maybe a few other bits depending how our budget goes.
As well as this thread, we have started sharing some videos on YouTube, feel free to have a look or just follow our updates on here!

Hi @gstuart

We are in the West Kent area near 7oaks. About 10 minutes deeper into the endless fields from Gigglepin and Juice Motors.

Please do check out our YouTube page...it’s good for a chuckle if nothing else;

All the best and Happy New Year to you.

cheers and likewise , happy 2020

Ur just down the road from me, I’m in swanley

have just subscribed to ur video, thought the tent one was good, u been read the instructions, lol

always nice seeing a rebuild particularly doing a video as well

keep up the good work

Ahh great, we may have to pick your brains on local specialists then!

Thanks for subscribing, that is massively appreciated.

The instructions were not as helpful as they could have been, some misprints of bits to use, but the tent seemed like a great alternative to a garage at about a hundredth of the price.

We will keep posting the updates and hopefully more will follow your lead subscribing so we can bring more and more regular updates.

Thanks again.

Hi everyone,
A little update.... we took the engine out... not the tow rope... wouldn’t recommend this but we didn’t have a proper bar and chain!
It came out pretty well and we are a bit closer to having a stripped chassis to have a good clean up and look around.

Once all the harness, coolant, power steering etc lines are disconnected it was literally a case of 4 nuts on each prop shaft, two engine mounts and 2 gearbox mounts. Then she lifted straight out!
We did capture the process on camera if you want to check it out.
Also we have a future video showing the splitting At the bell housing to the engine. We looked for one online and couldn’t find one so keep your eyes peeled ( will come out in a couple of weeks) as this may be useful for some.

Hi all, a bit of an update for you. Our most recent video shows the removal of the engine/gearbox and some further loom removal. If you have any questions please do let us know!
