Hi, This is my first post so appologies in advance if I muck it up!

I would like to purchase a 110, and (depending on budget constraints!) convert it so that it is capable of going on an expedition once I have finished uni.

Is it possible to convery a standard station wagon into the commercial station wagon (first two rows of seats but rear is van-like). by remowing the rear windows and fitting something else?

Also, would this change the road tax situation, I think the new CSW benefits from commercial vehicles road tax.

Ive always wondered if my 110 should be classed as a commercial, and perhaps qualify for a cheaper tax disc, I currently pay £190.

What do you think?

Road tax for Station Wagons is £190, £215 or £405, depending on when they were first registered (£190 for before 1/3/01, £215 for between 1/3/01 and 22/3/06, £405 for after 22/3/06).
For all other Defenders (i.e. classified as commercials for Road Tax purposes) it is £190 or £185 (£190 for those registered before 1/3/01, £185 for those after).

My 09 110 Utility wagon is £185.

Going off topic further...
So what determins if it's a commercial vehicle. does the lack of windows in the load area automatically mean it's a commercial vehicle?

I think my log book states it's a Private Light Goods. Could this be wrongly classified?

Sorry to bump a thread, I was just googling this subject

I want to make the same conversion you guys have (solid rear panels on a 110 station wagon) in order to take it on expedition.

Do 90 panels fit?
Or do they have to be 88 panels?

It's weird that so much stuff is still the same And also great!

My 110 looks like it's gonna be more series three than defender before long! haha!
