Defender 110 hybrid - Alternator electrics - Help please

Hi All - I have a Defender 110 fitted with an Isuzu 2.8 TD engine (4J1BT, the heavy duty one with cam gears, not cam belts) - Which is a magnificent unit...

Whilst driving, the LR gauge shows just below the red area - never a problem though. The engine is fitted with a heavy duty 100Amp alternator

On random occasions, the dashboard alternator light comes up, and the gauge goes below mid level - panic! In the past I have gone through 2 alternators already!

Do I understand that on hybrid engines, the charge relay has to be the one usually associated with the engine - in this case the isuzu "blue charge relay" , could you tell me which is the correct alternator for the Isuzu 2.8 engine, and if the alternator is replaced with a bigger Amp one, does the relay also need replacing?
