The vehicle is hard to start when engine is hot, or cold. Once started it runs well for about 10 minutes & then it cuts out. It won't start again until it's been rebled. The fault then repeats. Fuel pump has been replaced, new one is noisy. The injector harness has also been renewed. Checked all earth connections, & crank sensor. Diagnostic test does not show any faults. Any ideas what to do next please?

was it a proper pump or cheaper pattern , were pipes reftted in correct orderyou can get an idea of pump by undoing sensor or bung on the filter and with a container in place switch ignition on,fuel should flow out fast and smooth, theres an air bleed that can be changed in rear ,wheel side filter connector and a oneway valve in front chassis side, injector washers and o rings can cause fuel to enter engine and gas to enter fuel system

Thanks for getting in touch. The pump is a genuine part, & the pipes were refitted in order. Defender is now at a garage & the fuel flow has been checked. I wasn't aware of the airbleed you spoke about, but have I checked the oneway valve in front chassis side. Could you explain more about the gas entering the fuel system via the injector washers & o rings as I don't understand how this could happen?

injectors sit through a fuel gallery bored in the head casting , if top o rings leak fuel can flow into the the top of the head and then run down into the engine, if washers leak combustion gases will be forced past into the fuel gallery , a there are 2 pumps in the tank unit low pressure send fuel through the filter then back to high pressure pump that feeds injectors and returns back to filter

Thanks again, the o rings & washers are getting replaced, hopefully, tomorrow. I 'll let you know the outcome.

Hi, thanks for all the advise. When the garage was changing the injectors, o rings & seals they found one of the thread ports on the pressure unit was cracked. When the nut was loosened the part fell off! Pleased to say the problem is now resolved.
Thanks again,
Les.
