Hi to all , I'm normally just a reader so I'll give you a brief back ground .... From a small boy I have been an avid landrover enthusiast , but of late I have lost my way!

After cutting my teeth on a ex lifeguard series 3 at the age of fifteen ( I learn to weld very quickly!) I've been thru most models. But recently it has all taken a back seat due to a new addition ! A ford ranger ! < I hope this post won't get deleted for swearing ;). After purchasing the ranger for work over a year ago the trusty p38 was parked and still is!

Luckily after much debate with the missus we decided to look for a camper, as I sit here looking out the window at a wet miserable morning I do question the decision but I'm sure it'll be fine ! Luckily I happened to spot a 110 ambulance in an old barn on one of our work sites! Winner ! So this is where the transformation starts for us, and hopefully with the many years or knowledge from fellow enthusiasts a smooth one !

Hopefully I will be able to do a diary of the build for any others that want to do the same In the future.

So a few bits to kick me in the right direction if you would.be so kind .....

It's a 3.5 V8 :D which I love is there anything I need to be checking over - it has been sat for over a year and only has 24,000 GENUINE miles on the clock.

Also rear seating laws - this is a big one for me , I would lke to use it as a sort of people carrier but how do I stand with just having people in the back ? I've grew up hangin out the back of dad's series landrovers sat on bits of foam ! We did eventually have bench seats with lap belts. If I was to put structurally sound lap belts on a bolted bench seat - our dining area to be , would this be the same ???

Also opinions on exterior. I want to put radio boxes / antennas on the front wings. Maybe some shovels/ jacks / jerry cans on show for a bit more of a military look. Or would it just look ****e, I know it's not a wolf or snatch landrover , but I do like that look !

And any other advise on awnings - camping gear - interior gadgets - tuning would be graciously accepted.

Thanks for reading , here's to another landrover saved from a barn !

First thing its a V8 so work out what your camping travel budget , depending on where you want to go is likely to be . You will be looking at about £40 for every 100 mile you travel ! and that's each way . If you plan for Scotland, Europe a diesel conversion might be a good plan , rather than hanging a lot of unnecessary stuff on the outside. If you go with the Pullman diner idea then have a look at psv seatbelt installation info (on Vosa site) to see what you need to do . More info on how many to sleep etc will get you more advice etc . HTSH

It was never going to be cheap to run ! But the burble of the v8 just makes me grin. I'm sure a tdi conversion might be on the cards in a couple of years. Mainly it will be for local music festivals and trips to Cornwall , might even have a go at the alps it I gain enough confidence in the old girl. I will try and get some pics up on here when I work out how to do it.

Give it a thorough inspection , and maintain it properly and its quite capable of taking you to the alps and back without a moments thought . An unreliable vehicle is usually down to an unreliable owner ! You have a very good base vehicle for a lot of enjoyment there .

Looks good. Was going to go a bit "trick" with this one. I'm an ex cabinet maker and steel fabricator so I've had ideas floating about for a long time.... This I say now, bearing in mind I haven't touched it yet - the novelty may wear thin. Thinking of removing the bulk head and cutting it about to ease access from the cab. Maybe a pop top - being 6'6'' it a fair squeeze , and would like to circulate some air, also some pull out awning on the rear for changing in! But as I say ... We will see ! I'll get some pics up tomorrow hopefully.

I saw this at the Devizes Beer Festival, looked very smart.
