def 200tdi turbo

hi i have a 200tdi defender engine which needs a new turbo will a disco or a td turbo fit as i cant find a defender turbo for sale any where i know the disco turbo sits under inlet but can you make it fit the def 200tdi manifold ??

I don't see why you shouldn't be able to. All you are doing (in effect) is swinging the turbo over to the top and then bolting it onto the defender manifold. You might find that it sits a little further toward the engine but I'm not sure. I can see the oil feed pipe being a problem though. Ideally you need to feed the oil in through the top of the turbo and then back out through the bottom. It will be setup in the opposite direction to the defender turbo if this is the case. I'm not too sure though really. Someone will know
