Decent Tyres?

Hi Folks,

Can anyone recommend a brand of tyre that they like to use? I've got a set of 5 spoke discovery wheels for the 2a but the remoulds on them are (finally!) shot, so am looking around for reasonably priced new tyres (remoulds are ok too), that are fairly tall/wide.

Planning to be using this machine on the road mostly so can't really go for anything too aggressive....!

Good Day,

I'm also using the Discovery 5 spoke rims, on a Series 3 LWB, I've fitted Cooper Discoverer A/T LT235/85R16 Tyres, it has the same rolling diametre as the standard tyre but wider. I'm using them for approx 70% road work, 30% off road.

Haven't had any problems with them yet (touch wood).

Agree Coopers are good. If you want to go cheaper try Colway A/T remoulds, or look on fleabay for some good part worns.

Hi Ormus,

What size do you use? (If you can't remember off the top of your head don't bother over it!)

I'm planning to fit one set to the IIA this year once it's rebuilt and the other type whenever the first set wear out. I can't remember how long ago the last set of remoulds were put on - probably about 5-7 years ago

but I reckon I'll be doing the same amount of usage now as Foxhound.

We'll see....

they were either 235 or 205 x 16.
cant remember off hand.
