Just for a laugh i rang out local Land Rover main dealers to inquire about an MOT which i need doing very soon, price for that was ok and she said its free with a service. As i was feeling in the need for a laugh i asked how much the service would be, reply was "anything from £100 to £950 depending on which service".

I take it that a £950 service would include a replacement engine, transmission and four new tyres :D:D

Anyway i declined their generous offer.

I am therefor looking for a trusted MOT station in Hertfordshire, preferably near to Bishops Stortford. Has anyone found one thats trusted not to **** my lovely D1 up for me or rip the **** out of my bank balance?

I hate MOT time, specially on older vehicles that i really like:eek:

I use Gilhooly's just outside Royston Meldreth a bit further Mick is into Landrovers and has a Disco 1 that he off roads best bit is he is open late or if you arrange it last year mine was done at about 6 30 pm I put is details up later when i'm home. not sure about AJD landrovers in Nazing
 
I use Harris Mayes in Rickmansworth from y 4.2 LSE and Defender, so maybe a bit far west for you, but dead easy from J17/18 M25 and they do courtesy cars where you just pay for the petrol. The MOT`s are done down the road at the local MOT station but they seem to have a good understanding between the two garages. Peter Harris Mayes offroads a D1 ( and drives a RR classic, and series 2 he has had from new ), all the mechanics are enthusiasts (Brian has a surreal Freelander monster truck !), and there is usually something interesting in the workshop. 01923 711800 is the number if it helps
 
I use my mate a Paul Spaldings near harlow hospital and there prices are around £35 for an MOT, never had any problems there
 
Wintry motors in Harlow, passed first time, excellent garage, even let me help and talked me through a few bits.

No advisories, all good for another year :)

Thanks for the recommendation, Landyzone comes up trumps again :)
 
I've been advised to check out Wade Diesels (01992 444 020) in Hoddesdon by Wintry Motors. Bit further that Harlow, but the garage couldn't recommend them highly enough. Wintry motors were very helpful on the phone, so hopefully Wade will be able to help with my current issue with my RRV 53 plate.

Edit: Wade had my car in and had two attempts at replacing my injector pipe between the engine and the turbo. First time it came off when I accelerated and then the second time I was left with a high pitched whine which I thought was my turbo going. It was only after servicing that I found out that the pipe wasn't on properly. Now sticking with Lookers Land Rover of Bishop's Stortford. Not worth the hassle.
