Hi lads and lasses This is my first post on here, my friend has a RR L322 Td6 2004 and there are a couple of problems with it, the infotainment system is dead as in no power what so ever but if I disconnect the battery for twenty minutes it comes back to life again until I switch the ignition off and restart it goes dead again.
The other problem is with the air suspension, it just doesn't want to play, its stuck in the standard ride height and won't respond to the rotary switch to raise or lower it, I have a Launch x431 mini pro that can read all the diagnostics in the suspension system but there are no real errorcodes coming up other than can bus error but when i reset the code it stays off until i disconnect the battery again. I have read all the other hreads on the same issues but no seem to be the same problem I'm having. Oh and one more thing the reservoir pressure is only 5.75 bar and Rave says it should be around 13 bar but the compressor always cuts off at 5.75 bar.

Welcome.
Just because I'm a tad like that , a please from you wouldn't have gone amiss.
That out the way. Compressor may be due to a leak in the system. Download Rave and follow the system along to check. I'm not one of the clever ones, I'll tag some in a minute, but air suspension issue will be linked to compressor, no pressure, no play. There have been a few discussions in last few days about L322 compressor issues, including one about pressure. Quick search should bring them to top of list, rather than trawling through the list.
The disconnect battery to get infotainment to play is new to me, although it playing up is not.
Here comes the clever folks, well some of them
@kds , @Saint.V8 , @holidaychicken , @Henry_b , @biketeacherdave , @backinblack . Oh and @gstuart as I think you played with your compressor?

Addit: oops just realised you already have Rave

Sorry for not asking nicely with a please, I am a bit rusty nuts and bolts type of a person and I forget my manners from time to time. I read that you can get new bores for the compressor, has anyone got any links to where I can get one from please and also who makes the best repair kit, i have seen a kit from a bagpipe something that seems to get good reviews. Cheers to anyone who can help me.

Does the pressure stay at 5.25 bar or does it drop off?

Will she stay at standard height or does it start to sag?

How old is the battery?

What fault shows on the Canbus?

The battery is only two weeks old so shouldn't be a problem, the 5.25 bar stays constant and the suspension holds firm at standard ride height overnight. I have checked the can bus system with a multimeter, it has 60 ohms resistance and each wire has roughly 2.4 volts whih as far as i am aware is perfect so i think its just a code that is generated when i disconnect the battery when i reset the infotainment system,

No worries. It's just that everyone reading/replying/trying to help, even the miserable old codgers, are real people, giving up time and knowledge for free, so a little bit of the niceties goes a long way :D
I'm sure someone will have the answers you seek.

Which trim is the vehicle and what size battery?

Codes shouldn't appear when you re-connect the battery

It's going to be better to get diag that can tell you exactly what the code is..

No reason to shotgun the approach..

The suspension code just said "Can Bus fault" with no code present. I think the reason the fault message was generated was because i was trying to restore the settings to the air suspension ecu and the ignition was left on when i disconnected the battery by mistake doh

I have charged the other battery up and it comes out as a good battery with the battery tester and that one is a 920cca so I might try putting that one back on and see what happens with the infotainment system, i am willing to try anything to get this car sorted again.

I can't stress enough that if your vehicle is a Vogue you need a 110ah CCA920 minimum. 3years , 5 batteries and finally finding out Eurocarparts were sending wrong size, is what it took me. The Vogue is electronics heavy and needs a battery to deal with such.

Right thats good enough for me the charged up battery goes back on and lets see if it works, I think you will be right cos all the infotainment problems started after the new battery was fitted. Cheers mate for the advice, its so welcome I am at my wits end .

When you reconnect the battery I trust you are turning lock to lock to reset the Steering Angle Sensor?

Check for codes in the other CAN tied ECU's...i.e. ABS ECU, Gearbox, Transfer Box, Engine, Headlight Leveling etc...if one is dragging the CAN down, the others will fault with it.

I attach a document which could help with diagnostics of the databuses on these behemoths.

Yes Done the steering from lock to lock and that clears the error message on the dash, I cleared all the codes that were stored in the other modules and rechecked that non had come back on after cycling the key off and on. thanks for the ideas though much appreciated

Good luck, hope it works. The correct battery will only fit battery space, with bonnet opened to service mode. It has a clearance of around 2mm between wing and battery, meaning it has to be dropped in straight or a lot of swearing and scraped knuckles will ensue.
