HI looking to de cat the exhaust on my 4.0 p38 but unable to find anywhere that sells de catted pipes, i know some people on here have them so could you let me know where to get them from cheers!

It is my understanding that removing the catalytic converter from any vehicle manufactured from 1993 onwards is illegal. It contravenes the construction and use regulations, which state that all vehicles manufactured in 1993 and onwards HAVE to be fitted with a catalytic converter. All vehicles manufactured after that date must have the exhaust gasses passed through a converter. It is even an offence to fit a none type approved cat to a vehicle. It is also a technical MOT failure, in that the exhaust is incomplete or has parts missing or has been retro fitted with a none type approved cat, reference the certificate of construction and use compliance and type certification issued to the manufactures.
Not a lot of people know that.

TRY THIS
- Exhausts
seems rather expensive -other option is to cut out the cats and weld in a straight pipe thats what i done with one of mine ,the other i bought from je engineering but i think they are out of stock, you can only get away with no cats if you run on lpg also you need to tell you insurance company as some regard it as a modification some dont:)

Looking to do this on my lpg converted P38 as well as one of the cats is rattling.

Think I am going to get a second hand set of cats and gut them, and put straight pipes in but make them still look like cats externally.

just take it off and bang the remainder of the cats out!! thats what i'll be doing when i can be arsed!!!

I think that's what the previous owner did with mine - but it sounds awful, almost like a manifold blow.

If my P38 can keep itself together for more than a couple of months in a row I might manage to save up enough to replace em.

Guy

The problem with just taking the insides out is as kooky_guy says makes it sound awful, done it on cars in the past.

i think your right makes an awfull hollow sound cut them out and weld in a pipe or find a decat pipe if you wish to decat
everyone remarks how good my p38s sound one of em i cut and welded the other i bought ,allows the v8 to sound and breath like it should ,sounds much
like the older v8 classic range rover but louder

fit a janspeed cat back system as well for best results but there not cheap

since decating i have noticed better mpg ,more responsive, cooler running and better sound to name but a few:)
