De-cat Downpipe

I've done my decat and EGR blanking and have noticed no change in engine note, no change in fuel consumption (I measured it accurately before and after) and only the very slightest perceptible change in performance.

I think it comes down to, is your cat collapsed, if so then its a restriction on the exhaust and the decat improves it. If the cat is not collapsed then no change. EGR: if the EGR valve is working fine, no change. They get bunged up with carbon and don't seal properly, blanking this off makes the difference.

so far I have not realy noticed any real differnece in MPG, but then again I now enjoy the extra pick up...lol, I know its not much but a lot better then it was, I can now hear the turbo whine, there are now new rattles....

Well worth doing, just got to take my Cat in to the scraper's it must be in one pice as it dont rattle.... so hpfully £40 ish in my rocket.

This is what i had i think. I noticed a big change in driveability.

I think after 16 years on a diesel, it will be pretty clogged up inside. I am fairly certain they are only meant to last 10 years.

I'm not sure whether to take my one to the scrappy or open it up for a look-see

I'll give you £20 for yours if it dont rattle, And i'll collect it.

Thats a serious offer, but if you dont mind a trip up the A120 to Braintree (20 minutes) then there is a place that will give you £46 for a full one or £23 if it rattles.

Let me know what you want to do, pm me your address or I will be happy to meet you and show you the place. Open till 12.00 on Saturday.

(I could do with £24 profit as I need a new battery for my Landy )

Blimey, live and learn - I've lived 2 miles outside Braintree for the last 11 years and I never knew there was a scrappy in the area! I may investigate at the weekend... is it on the main Braintree to Witham road near Cressing?

Sort of. But before cressing.

Come off the macdonalds roundabout towards Witham, past the bends and about a couple of hundred yards on the right is a small lane. There is a small sign but you have to keep your eyes open to see it.

I was suprised to see the yard at the end of the lane, weighbrigde and cranes and the full monty.

Daves one was in very good condition, was almost a shame to weigh it in.
