Looking over my D1 earlier and realised once that I start adding bits and bobs inside it will start to look messy so fancied doing a little dash pod project.

Something along the idea of a Raptor pod but at a much lower price, mainly to mount switches/CB/boost guage etc

Anyone had a go themselves and any images/ideas to share?

Well I dont know, thats why i'm asking for ideas....got to be much cheaper than the £90 odd for the Raptor one surely?

Anything is possible but when you consider the time taken bending the metal and drilling the holes
Without pressing tools or shapers I bet you'd not be far off the £78 they want for a fully finished proper job.

To be honest theres not any reason why it'd have to be metal, maybe the front panel to hold the bits and bobs needed but the top for one could be any material really - fibreglass, plastic etc

Could even be a balsa framework with a fibreglass skin over the top and a aluminium face, the fixings could be basic as there wouldnt exactly be a massive amount of weight in it.

Or even 6mm plywood.

Had a quick think about this...

A plate that can be stuck or screwed to the dash with lips on all edges
A top cover
A fascia panel

Affix top plate to dash top
Fascia panel fits to front lip
Cover panel fits to other 3 lips

i could do something almost identical, but i dont like the mounting system on the mud uk one. I dont like screwing in dashes and making holes. Would make something that just clipped into place. - easy to remove if you sell the vehicle on etc.

I will have one for a 90!!
How much?

ill be doing 90 ones for about £20 delivered

but, forget getting anything before xmas. My kits half here and half at the farm and its just a feckin nightmare at the minute. (just being honest!)

Will it be the same as the MUD one?

I cant help but think the MUD one would look very 'box stuck on the dash' when fitted to a Discovery.
And the Discovery dashes come in beige and grey too...
If it was low profile then my moneys waiting!

all the vacuum stuff could come in whatever colour you wanted so long as i can get the plastic in the right colour.

orange is no prob

the disco one would look very different. I would want it to look like an oem product, the mud uk one looks very ..... after thought.
