Just been looking at the itunes app store to see if a dash app was available, these 4 came up, anyone used any of these/recommend any of these?

This follows the utter #### on Snake pass last weekend who tried to kill 5 cars and the occupants by over taking on a blind bend!

personally Id go for a cheap propper one of ebay, the apps are ok, but when i was looking many can't be used in the background, so you get a phonecall, it quits, or you cant use your satnav at the same time.

biggest drawback for me, is you need the phone to be facing straight ahead, so completly useless (unless you have it directly infront of the steering wheel) to use it for anything else.

plus the fact you forget to put it in the cradle/activate the app, my dashcam is installed permanantly, and starts recording as soon as its powered up, and records for 10 mins whn powered down.

just one of these with a 4Gb card in it.

I covered the "night vision" LEDs, cos in reality, all they did was reflect off the windscreen, the camera is good enough under street lighting.

Still not convinced a £100 only use dash cam from china is good value, been using autoboy black box on nexus 7 2013 £0.57 only issue is it doesnt like recording quality changed after inital install and needs reinstalling to reset if it craps out on resolution change.

Half tempted to buy a active cam or goprohero3 black at later date.

We recently bought the Mini 0801 dash cam, it came with free 8gb card and we got the version with GPS tracker included.

We bought a class 6 32gb micro-SD card for £15 which gives around 8 hrs recording before overwriting.

HD quality video plus audio, HDMI output.

You can take a single frame out of the replay at the click of a button and it also takes stills out of the car.

The GPS takes a minute or so to latch on to the satellites, so if you drive off immediately your replay won't show the GPS cxorrectly until it kicks in, like the picture above. I started in Manton Road but was down to Griffiths Street before it started. Otherwise tracks perfectly, speed is in KPH on the replay software which comes with it.

Very worthwhile gadget, and if you are going on holiday you can select pictures from the trip before you wipe the card.

The mini-0801 is tiny, we've parked it up behind the rear view mirror on the passenger side, a right-angle USB plug extension lead takes the lead to the map pocket where we are taking the switched 12V feed from the illuminated vanity mirror wiring (the cable and plug are taped up in the roof if you haven't got that mirror fitted)
