Don't want to compete whooppee,

i came on to tell of my own little dashboard barbie.

driving past some allotments today and i thought wahey someones burning plastic,

then thought thats getting stronger, then i saw a whisp of smoke and a burning sensation in the eyes.

pulled over (onto grass verge without slowing, lots of toots) and dropped the panel below steering wheel and their was a nice little fire, aint it pretty. watched it for a second , switched ignition off, grabbed nearest thing of cloth which turned out to be a pair of gloves and grabbed at the flames to prevent any further damage. Gloves now goosed as the burning thing was the brake switch, separated the cables and removed what was left of the fuse.

once back home i had a look see, and it is looking like the cable heading for the high level brake light is now insulationless, just the bare wire with melted plastic.

not impressed, not happy, anyone experienced this before as someone else i phoned commented as this being a fault which does occur ??

(now tries to add crap pickies)

was a 15A which blew, put another 15A in to prove which circuit dodgy that blew,

did not have another 15A so put a 10A in, all fine then fire,

just not logical capt.

have sussed it today to a wire going to earth, wire in tailgate for the high brake light.

have acquired new switch, will fit 2morra.

will have to run an independent cable from back to front to replace burnt one.
