Received my new TD5 CAT downpipe, made (or sold) by Britpart at £250.

Seemed well made lol

Decided to fit it today, which took a while. First the gearbox crossmember had to come off, then the chassis ARB mountings.
Then l was able to fiddle the OE one out (the downpipe flange ONLY JUST fits between the engine and the chassis)
Then offer up the Britpart one.
And the rear mounting clamp holes did not line up.
Took it off again and elongated the holes a little, then put it back on.
Fitted crossmember, ARB, undertrays (mistake, should have tried it first)
Started engine. Could l get the downpipe flange to seal? Could l hell. New gasket, cleaned faces, and still chuffing out exhaust gases.
Nothing for it....take it off and refit the original one.
Not a happy bunny, a whole afternoon underneath the 110 for nothing.

At least there were no siezed nuts, and no studs broke off :)

I had the Bosal Decat pipe and it was great, with a definite improvement in pickup time at low RPM.

But it made an annoying droning sound at 65-70 mph particularly under load, as when going up hills, which was a right pain driving to Scotland in June. (going again soon)

So as my original CAT was choked up l decided to just fit a new CAT pipe.
As for the £250 cost, the OE Land Rover part is £750!!

I do feel for you, £250, a day under you landy an still in the same place as you were before you started:mad::mad:.
Britpart in my opinion supply only rubbish no if's or butt's.
When you see a saving of £500 and it is only a part exhaust then Britpart is sure tempting and why shouldn't it be?
Well it shouldn't be because of what you have just explained your day has been, maybe another one from Britpart would fit because it was made more accurately to the required specification. You never know prior to buying the part but you sure know after wasting a day trying to fit rubbish.
If you can (cost sometimes dictates what you have to purchase) steer clear of Britpart.
