Well I obviously needed a 5th vehicle, so a few weeks ago I found myself watching a Classic on ebay, and, egged on by my father, won the bugger!

A 1990 Vogue SE with solid history, and just over 100,000 miles on the clock. A 3.9 V8 with an LPG conversion.

Anyway, I dumped her on my drive and pretty much ignored her until last week when this happened...

Quite handy really as I managed to beach my main car on the driveway!

So, she has the usual problems like sagging headlining which I'll sort shortly, but there's a few things I'd love a bit of advice on first...

1. Bonnet.
This sticks up in the corner where the latch is. Any suggestions to remedy this? The adjustment screw's all the way in, and it I push the bonnet down, it's perfect, but then it just pops up again.

2. Intake hosing
This seems quite restrictive - see the kink below - but all looks fairly standard. Is it?

3. Auto selector labels
You can't really see it here, but these are very messy - the glue between the layers has gone off so I could do with replacing them. Is this possible?

I also need a parcel shelf, spare-wheel cover, and the box that the spare wheel sits in, and maybe a specialist in the North West (Merseyside).

Looks like the intakes been cable tied but in all honesty its not going to make a huge difference on something like that :p

Bonnet may be a hinge thats bent ?

Selector……….its a 23 year old car just leave it to be happy and senile

Hello and welcome.

The intake does look a bit kinked. But from the photo it looks as if it's had a new MAF sensor at some point. Might be worth cutting the cable ties and re-positioning it, do the kink is less. IIRC the "trumpet" for the air-filter housing sits quit low down, behing the headlight assembly.

The bonnet, it could be the relaese mechanism may need a bit of lubrication. Or the cable is sticking, or needs adjusting.

Gear selector wotsits. Every auto RRC I've ever had has this problem, I reckon its where they get hot in the summer from the sun, and the heater pipes for the rear run underneath, over time the glue gets old and not very sticky.

I MAY have a spare-wheel cover and box thingy kicking about in the garage. I'll have a root about and let you know. I can't be sure of condition, or colour. They might be mint, they might be shagged!!

Nice looking RRC, by the way.

Cheers guys!

I've been toying with the idea of removing the side steps and the front valance for more of a 'classic' look - thoughts?

Right. She's currently running very well on LPG, but can be quite jerky on petrol, especially when you put your foot down - almost feels like a misfire as it stutters quite a bit.

I'm assuming no misfire as it's fine on LPG, so maybe a fuelling issue? Suggestions?

Filter first, then if that doesn't help, clear out the lines and finally replace the pump?

The best thing about a Landy or ranger is the amount of extras an removable parts so you can really make it your own so I say go for it, remove the steps and valance.
