A question about my mate's defender.
It had a heavy shunt at the front offside pushing the axle back and bursting the rear mount of the radius arm.

Sorry about the bad phone pics.

Question is, will this just be a case of welding on a new rear mount? The bottom link mount will need some work too.
I've done a fair bit of chassis welding on my series LRs including fitting a new half chassis and don't mind having a go at this. The chassis doesn't appear to have any bends or twists. Front prop seems fine. Anything else I should be looking out for?

As it is for someone else, I might end up farming it out to a specialist. Any recommendations for someone to do this for him. It's in the angus area but can be trailered anywhere.

TIA

How old is it? This will affect how much decent metal there is to weld on to. Those brackets are welded on anyway. I'd be surprised if it hadn't distorted the rail a bit. Locally you'd think it would have done something to the main rail. The transfer box must have taken a bit of a shock wave from the front prop I would have thought.

It's a 51 plate. As far as I can tell, the gear box mounts are undamaged. It managed to drive a few yards but I'll get a better idea about that side of it once I straighten the axle up.
