DAB Radio Comversion ?

I have a 2006 (56 plate) RR Vogue SE, it has all the bells and whistles with ragards to the sterio but I would like to play DAB and possibly attach my Ipod to it somehow

Is there a DAB conversion out there (is it as easy as swopping Modules ??)

No a replacement head unit to be honest the signal is poor on the road and there is limited stations broadcasting at the moment so not worth the hassle

Best I pod connection is the new I pod which does away with the head unit and works very well

Get a head unit with an aux input.
Plug ya pod straight into that

whats the point of the Pure DAB radio when all it is doing is converting the nice clear DAB signal into FM to play through your normal radio??? sort of defeats the object! may as well listen to the normal FM radio?

I wonder why satellite radio has never caught on in the UK?

I would pay a few bob a month for a decent selection of channels.

I have an after-market touch screen head unit in my HSE which I love to bits, but the digital TV reception is total crap and I can't get any radio channels on it.

I don't understand why DAB radios for cars have such poor signal gathering ability. For instance the recommendations to use an external aerial with the Pure Highway. I have a Pure One Mi that is a £30 portable (albeit with a £16.99 rechargeable battery) & this works perfectly well in the car sat on the passenger seat whether the telescopic aerial is extended or not. Why then is it so difficult to produce a dedicated auto DAB radio?

My Pure Highway has very good reception here in the Midlands. There are two reasons I use a magnetic aerial, so i can swap the DAB between the Range Rover and my company van and the supplied stick on aerial will not work with heated screens. There is nothing better than a nice sunny day listening to Test Match Special.

DAB radio propogation is not suited to mobile applications, where the receiver is moving towards or away from the transmitter at speed.

Dab in Northern Ireland is a joke in very poor taste. Cant even get BFBS and I live three miles (clear line of sight) from what used to be RAF Aldergrove!!! If Gospel/C&W is yer thing along with teeny bopper stations you will be ok in some parts of our septic isle, but rock stations are unheard of. Oddly enough as a practicing masochist I always install a dab head unit having crashed and burned with an 'add on ' before. I like the windscreen mount antennas as sticky fingered functionally maladjusted oiks cant break off an internal antenna. Problem is though I have just bought a lovely p38 with a heated screen- big no no for a screen antenna I'm told. Some folk say that this can be used on the rear left quarter pane, but any sages out there have any opinions on this? This wagon is a replacement for the 'trooper' I bought to replace my long serving disco, I have to say the Isuza has the worst 4 wheel drive system I have ever come accross ( including my wifes suzuki soft top- transmission wind up button rather than 4x4 selector!) and it used more deisel that my old v8 LSE Vogue Classic. I fitted a DAB/FM head unit to my MGF recently and didn't want to fit a windscreen aerial, so I bought this widget in eBay. It works a treat!

I have a dab headunit in my p38 and it's the dog's b******, pickup about 46 stations, some even in tunnels! i use a magnetic external aerial on the roof cos it's miles better than the stick on jobs that you can't use in a Rangy anyway. Pure highway is ****E, wife gave me one yonks back, worked for 3 weeks then packed in and it was a pain in the arse anyway. I think with the L322 you need a new headunit, unless there's an in boot box that connects in a similar to a multichanger JVC do one but it's for their own headunits, and they also do a dab headunit with aux and mini usb for about £100. God knows how you fit it to these new cars!

I have changed the head unit in my Vogue 50 to a JVC DAB with the antenna which is stuck to the windscreen on the passenger side which is very unobtrusive and the signal is first class, the signal doesn't drop out at all, also has iPod and bluetooth as well as well as usb, you do need to get the conversion lead from CLARKY 130 for it to work properly on the RR p38 not sure if the lead is needed for the L322 also works with the heated front screen

Have a look at the latest PURE incar gadget, I had a play in Halfrauds, looks and sounds good with IPOD connectivity.

I should start off by saying I don't have a DAB radio in my p38. I wish I had.
However my son has a OEM DAB radio in his new VW passat. It is absolutely brilliant!
So to all those people who say it doesn't work with mobile receivers I can only say it must not be set up right or it is an inferior system.

Thanks for the link to the external DAB aerial. It arrived yesterday and has made a huge difference to reception. I use a Pure Highway and the stick on aerial was as good as useless, constantly loosing reception to the point where I stopped using DAB.
I can now drive through all the problem reception areas with not so much as a hick up in reception. Planet Rock is back on the menu.

Sorry new to this stuff, paid halfords to do the fit so they ordered all the bits but still couldn't fit due to previous owner doctoring the wiring if i send a picture of the suspect wiring would you know a way around or am i best giving it to a auto electriction
