Main relay: ON
Warning lamp: OFF
So is the warning lamp still on with these readings? cos the system seem to work well as the main relay is on and the warning lamp should be off according to the inputs so it might be just a problem on the warning lamp's circuit... you should try with a known good ECU cos at this point is suspect

No the dash ACE light is not illuminated, as the Nanocom says too, the warning light is off. When the warning light came on it was accomapied by the ACE ECU faultcode 30-06. You could stop and start the car and the light would come on after a few minutes driving.
I will clear the code and run her round the block to see if I can get the ACE light up again.
But your view at the moment SF is that the ACE ECU is suspect?

No, the ACE ECU was suspect if the input for the warning was off and the light on, as the fault is intermittent and the readings are all OK it can be the pump on the way out or dirty filter or an air lock or something... if you have serious turbulence in the tank at idle take out and clean the filter first... i didnt try for ACE but if there is the option insert a SD card in nanocom and record a data log from a drive then if this works and the light comes on at a point maybe the record will reveal the problem... these intermittent faults are the worst to diagnose

Yes you are right intermitents are a pain.

I took her round the block and unlike yesterday the ACE light did not illuminate, however the Fault codes recorded were:
33-06 Directional control valve fault
45-07 Battery Voltage too low
47-07 Main relay test has failed

Maybe these were there earlier and I didnt scroll across far enought to see them.

Also there is, and have been for some time, quite a lot of turbulanece in the ACE tank. At this stage I am unsure where the ACE filter is, can you advise please.

It's in the bottom of the valve block, remove it, screw back the cap to not lose much fluid then clean it with compressed air and gasoline or something

The ECUs also can fail I THINK the drivers for the solenoid fail. cannot read errors without the bridging trick.

May be worth buying a spare from Ebay, as a spare

OK thanks SF, I'll clean that area up and investigate.
May I thank you kindly for all your assistance regarding this annoying problem, you are a star m8.)
The filter was fairly clean when removed, but I have washed in petrol, compressed air blown out and re-installed.
I would presume that an ACE bleed process would be a good idea next?

Yes, on an ECU drivers for devices can fail, that is true. On the drive this afternoon I monitored that current fed to the DCV1 and DCV2 as I cornered, the max I saw was just under 5 amps which for a 2.6 ohm winding would indicate the the ACE ECU relay driver transistors are operating pretty much full on OK. Minimum was 0 amps which meant that the ACE ECU was turning off the relay driver OK as well.

The ACE fluid is very dirty in the reservoir. Do you recommend a complete change for fresh fluid might help?

I was going to syphon out old from reservoir and run it 4-5 times. Let the new mix with the old in the system and then chuck and replace

I am trying to get the ACE ECU out of the car to reveal it's part number, so I can get another one. I have removed the glove box and bottom facial trim but cannot see what is holding it in apart from one nut at the front. Does anyone have a link to a copy of the RAVE manua (all mine are now corrupt) or can advise me of the removal process.

Jesus this is difficult. I have found a lower nut on a sort of bracket that holds the BCU and ACE ECU togther, but that alone is not realeasing the two ECUs. It's nothing like the RAVE I have managed to open. Getting to the point where I'll kick this in to touch and forget about sorting the ACE ECU Pt No

For any part number follow the steps in this link: https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.com/classic-land-rover-parts/ , there are more ACE ECU numbers cos they're superseded but any of them is good if you find a confirmed good used one cos they all work the same, nr 4 : https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.com/parts/index/part/id/L5.L5D.L5D04.L5D04005/brand/land-rover/
Thanks as always SF.
My VIN is 837A324162 According to the parts listing the ACE ECU for VINs 3A778135 to XA232816 (which I guess includes my VIN 837A324162), then the Part Number for the ECU is RQT000030. I have seen these available from various sources at reasonable prices. I will get one in.
However it still leaves my with the issue of how to get the damn thing out. Any ideas SF?

Mine is running the second newest model number, replacing the newest one. I am 90% sure mine blew the drivers for the solenoids due to a dirty water based short.

Also two different valve blocks, mine is similar to a block found on newer models as I had a look at a D3 or D4 underneath out of curiosity.

I need to find the old one to check it. May get another spare!!!!

May have to take out another ECU, I THINK I left one fixing out on mine
Hi Mjl,
I think there is a rear fixing as I showed in the "mounting" JPEG and in the "Image 1" JPEG there might be a mounting to the left hand bottom side of the BCU, Absolutely nothing like the RAVE I have......
