This gurgling in the dash is starting to wear a bit thin now! Bled it countless times as per RAVE, pressure tested it, still gurgling away. No coolant loss. Seems to do it more when it's cold.

Anyone any ideas? I know they can be a pain to bleed, what else have people tried?

Have you tried flushing and backflushing the heat exchanger?

Definitely air in the heater matrix, as juke179r has said backflush with pressure and see if you can move the air pocket,

You can get vacuum coolant system fillers, might be able to cobble summat together?

The ideal would be to be able to loosen a connection to the top hose to it, then bleed it that way, you'd lose a bit of coolant and it'd be messy. Is that possible or is it so buried under the dash that you cannot get at it?
Or could it be dismounted and rotated so the outlet hose is right at the top and then tap it gently for a while, while the pump is running? The air must be trapped in a pocket, above the level of the outlet.
Could it be something as simple as the hoses connected to the wrong connections, i.e. outlet where inlet should be and vice versa?

It’s impossible to remove trapped air in the heater matrix.
The secret is not to let the air remain trapped in the heater matrix when refilling the cooling system in the first place, therefore drain the system and refill with coolant slowly, the matrix will fill up with coolant and push the air beyond the heater unit and into the pipe work etc thats in the engine bay, at this point that any air present can be removed as necessary via your RAVE procedure.

That’s something that was necessary with the classic RR, so never had issues with my D1

I'm glad you mentioned this. I forgot I had a vacuum filler kit stashed in my garage. Well worth the money.
