Hi Guys,

After about 3 years away, I bought another disco for some casual green laning. This time a TD5. It has had the gearbox replaced recently and apparently due to it being "perished" the garage the previous owner used, decided not to refit the sound deadening and/or rubber covers above the gearbox. As a result, there is a fair bit of noise coming through there which is really ruining the driving experience for me.

Is anyone able to assist with the bits that I may need to resolve?

Thanks

Cheers. I bought one but I can’t get it to slide over the top of the gearbox! Any suggestions on how this can be done?
i drop the mounts then lower the box down on a jack till it can be slid round then up, lower it carefully and check fan doesnt hit the rad

I had a look at the mounts and cross member etc and I was thinking about doing this. I just wasn’t certain if it would work. Just the four bolts to the box or do the mounts need to come out?

Silly question, but is it the same part for the Fender as the D2?

Cheers

I’m not sure but if it’s the same box, I would presume it would work as it’s just a bell housing cover.

to drop the rear of the box down remove cross member, undo the 2 mount nuts ,jack box up as high as possible remove both mounts and lower box down carefully, drivers side mount can be tricky

Thanks James, I’ll do that this afternoon.

Hopefully I’ll manage to get the cover on. I’ve replaced the sound deadening on the engine cover and added some to the trans tunnel which have both made a huge difference. Hoping this will bring the trans noise down a bit.
