D2 grinding

Hi all,
After trolling through many posts on many sites I still have no answers.

I have a grinding noise on my d2 the type of noise of gears stripping each other. I first noticed it when I got stuck off road, when I accelerate hard (while stuck) and let off the throttle there is the loud gear grinding noise like gears are running on.
I have also noticed it when accelerating quick out of a junction when I lift of throttle and dip clutch to change to 2nd I get the gears running on and grinding.
before anyone says it it’s not the TC noise this is gears
Is this gearbox, diffs or TBox ?
any help or ideas would be great

Need a bit more info really.

Have you tried draining the diffs? any metal particles shining in there?
Does/did the ABS or TC light come on?
Is it the same in both Hi and Low ratio?
does it occur in other gears?
Does it only occur when you put your foot on the clutch?
Does it only occur on full lock?

It seems the noise isn't worrying you enough to stop driving the Disco or has it? Could it just be lack of syncromesh?

I have not drained anything yet this is something I will be doing soon.
TC and ABS light comes on and system working as it should.
It’s both in hi and low range.
It’s not when I put my foot on the clutch it more on overrun. Doesn’t do it often drives fine on and off road it’s only when I let off the throttle after high revs
For example if I get completely stuck in the mud and the wheels are spinning and I give it a lot of throttle then let off it’s like gears are still spinning and grinding like hell. The sort of noise you get if you were to jam it in gear without using the clutch.

I've a horrible feeling it my be U/J related. Two amigos on is not to be ignored for too long but probably not as much of a prob as the one you are talking about.

Sorry I should have been clearer. I don’t have any amigos on all the time, the Tc light come on when it’s working and all the others come on and go off as they should with ignition.

Hmm, maybe!. Hadn't thort of that, not ever having had one of these abortions!

What makes you think it's not the TC. It has the hallmarks.
