hi all im in the middle of building a disco pickup and finally after much waiting and tonnes of anticipation we finally cut the back off.
but in our excitement we forgot to disconnect the battery.
a schoolboy error.
and now we have dash lights we can hear the fuel pump and we can hear the relays tick and that's pretty much it so yeah a day of success and failure lol

any ideas from you would be great thanks

The most sensitive to welding with battery connected is the BCU, i've seen 4 cases when it failed for this reason, let's hope this isn't the 5'th one

If it was something with the harness to the pump it would not work, the BCU's microprocessor gets damaged by the voltage spikes induced by the welding machine into the body through the battery's earth connection or permannent connected solenoids managed by it, might not be visible at all... i've seen this few times and the battery was always left connected while electric welding was carried out, not very common but it happens, depends on what are the overall symptoms

we have a pulse !
turns out we forgot to reconnect the key fob receiver. plugged that back in and she ran and by some miracle the bcu, ecu, and the wiring survived.

thanks all for the help we got there in the end
