So this morning my key fob worked unlocking my doors but only after I pressed it for 4-5 times. I’ve been at work all day and it then wouldn’t unlock at all. I have had to use the key in the door which then triggered alarm till I put the key in the ignition. The battery is fine but I replaced it in case to no avail. I’ve searched the forum for a similar issues but not sure if I’m reading the pages right. Could this be corroded receiver terminals causing the issue or something more sinister.

it locks by the seems of it but doesn't unlock with the fob, I
The receiver is definitely plug and play but if for a while it worked one way i doubt that it's the receiver, when the receiver fails the fob would not work at all from the beginning, Can you see the led on the fob when you lock or unlock and if yes the dash led is reacting ?

The Fob LED flashed when I press either lock or unlock, I haven't seen if the dash one reacts, should it flash at the same time? I will have to go and have a look at lunch. What would it mean if it doesn't react to if it does?

Thank you on this

It's possible that the dash led to ''react''(i mean flash) when you use te fob and then the problem is with the central locking not with the RF side. Would be good a RF test with diagnostic tool before you spend money on a receiver cos the only certain way to rule it out is with a bran' new one, used units might not be 100% reliable

if the dash led reacts to the fob put your ear on the door card and listen if you hear any activity on fob commands

just going round the vehicle today pressing the key fob, it works only if I press it by the drivers side window. It both locks abs unlocks but only next to the drivers window.

Have you tried the trick, holding the fob against your head while pressing the button? It increases the range/power, as "proved on Top Gear".
I use it sometimes if I have moved too far away from the car for it work normally. ;)
But yes, this is obvs not quite as it should be.
For the time being I'd just lock it with the key, as you would do if you had to leave an animal in the car or windows open. As in the case of being on a ferry. All it switches off is the motion sensor thingy inside the car, the rest of the alarm and lock system still functions. ;):)

Yes. It opening it setting off the alarm at 5.30 in the morning isn’t going to keep me in with the neighbours . The engine starting is loud enough.

Perhaps it might help if you check if the fob is actually working before doing more expensive changes. I don't think the fob's flashing light is indicative of anything other than the button was pressed, the battery is OK and part of the fob's circuit is working. I did this post some time ago where you can verify using your TV if the fob is transmitting on the correct frequency. Might be worth a try - https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/d2-fob-alarm-issues.310098/#post-4948070

So I haven’t updated this recently but I have had the roof liner off, to replace that this weekend, as well as gained access to the receiver box. The key fob unlocks and locks the doors intermittently sometimes straight away, sometimes after 5 minutes. It really is frustrating. I have cleaned the terminal on the receiver box and replaced the battery in the fob. Still intermittent working and sometimes not at all. Any ideas out there would be great.

So is the receiver bran new or not ? cos if not you have your answer, if it's new do both fobs work the same or you have only one ?

I only have 1 fob, the fob transmits as I set the tv to an analog channel and programmed the channel to the same frequency and I get a reaction when I press the button. The receiver is the original one in the truck so I guess I need to change that out and hope it’s that. Expensive if not but I should do that.
