D2 Central locking issue

Hi all. Finally took the plunge and purchased a td5 d2 (had a 300tdi off roader for a while). After spending a LONG time searching i finally found a really clean tidy example with a few niggles. Worst being a central locking issue. ALL doors will lock off the fob, the internal button and key in the door but ONLY the drivers door will unlock. Ive been told a few different things ie door lock actuators, receiver in the roof infront of rear sunroof and the bcu. Much appreciate it if Can anyone shed any light on it or have had previous similar problem. Tia

As long as all of them lock and only the driver's door unlocks put your ear on any other door and unlock with fob, if you hear some activity it means all the other actuators are fubar cos the lock and unlock command goes to the motors on the same wires by reversing polarity...if no activity in any other door when you unlock it can be a problem with the driver's door position switch which is the main element in the central locking sequence or the BCU... the receiver has nothing to do with that, investigation is needed

Just been to investigate. Yes you can hear activity in the doors. It sounds like the actuators are working but just wont lift the locks.
 
BTW, you can try a trick though, unplug them one at a time and unlock, if with one unplugged the others will work it's possible that one toi be the only at fault and it's draw creates a voltage drop on the circuit and doesnt let the others work well, all the doors except the driver's are on the same circuit so a voltage drop on the circuit would affect them all
 
As @sierrafery has said, if the driver's door will unlock on the fob then there's nothing wrong with the RF receiver in the roof space.
When you say "all doors", does that include the tailgate too? I presume that the doors can be opened using the handles on each door.
It certainly sounds like you have a car full of faulty latches unfortunately. They usually pop their clogs one at a time, but if the previous owner wasn't particularly bothered about them, the faults could have been cumulative.
Sadly, there's very little can be done about faulty latches other than to replace them although some have said that they have repaired them, I've tried to get into one and failed miserably.
I would be inclined to replace just one latch first off to confirm that is the state of play, say the front passenger's door. These latch assemblies aren't cheap, up to ninety odd quid new and about fifty quid second user, that's why I say just do one to see if that clear that particular door. Also each latch assembly is individual to each door.

Also a new thing its develpoed the past few days, if after a journey you jump out turn it off and leave it unlcoked even for only a couple of minutes, then jump back and turn ignition on tge hazard lights start flashing. No alarm just hazards. You then have to open and shut drivers door. Lock then unlock turn ignition on and they stop (some times after a couple of attempts.
 
Have you confirmed the sounder for the alarm is actually working?
I'm sure the D2 has a separate alarm sounder to the vehicle horn
 
If you try to lock/unlock without opening/shutting the door the horn will give a short beep everytime you press the lock/unlock buttons.

Might be an intermittent missbehaviour of the inertia switch or weak contact in it's plug
 
It would cut the fuel in tripped status but then the indicators should keep flashing too and the fuel cut untill the switch is manually reset but if it had an intermittent cut then reset itself the hazards keep flashing untill the ignition turns on so as long as the hazards go out the fuel is not cut if you see what i mean
 
I can still start and drive while the hazzards are flashing though. So there must be a gremlin in there somewhere. Im thinking more and more that the bcu might be the cause assuming the central lock is controlled from there and inertia switch must come through there to open the central locking in the event of a crash
 
Yes if you can drive it with the hazards flashing then the BCU becomes suspect...unless the hazard switch is not making tricks, unplug it and see if it helps or not
