Today I parked up outside the house as normal as I stopped the engine I noticed the air compressor was running as the engine stopped, but it stopped with the engine. Locked the car and i heard it “pulse” a couple of times, probably 1 second each time. Is this normal? I unlocked the disco then locked it again and I didn’t hear it again

Possibly the air bags are leaking

Gets some soapy water in a squirty bottle bottle and spray round them

They will lower themselves a smidge (25mm I think) when you lock it, for access purposes, was it the solenoid opening and releasing air?

No it sounded like it was running. I locked the vehicle and as I walked away heard it run for about a second, then about 10 seconds later same again. So I unlocked and relocked it and didn’t hear it again.

Mine does it to, when parked on uneven ground, only does it for a moment then stops.. Really don't think its anything to worry about

After you’ve got out and locked it? The suspension going down is normal but I’ve never heard the compressor trying to run before

Well mine does it if parked on curb for example... you hear the compressor run for maybe 1-2 seconds, might do 2 -3 times then stops.. My last D2 which was a facelift version did the same

It's totally normal. Both my Disco's have done this. When you switch the ignition off, the controlling ECU stays active for up to 30 minutes. If a door is opened during this time, the ECU will monitor and if necessary relevel the vehicle, typically as passengers leave or load is removed. It won'r run the compressor though - what I think you are hearing is the air being exhausted, as once everyone leaves the car, there will be too much air in the bags.
If you can get hold of RAVE which has the workshop manuals the process is explained there.

When i parked I think the suspension was rising although I never noticed until I flicked the engine off. I will park somewhere even more unlevel next time to try it! There are no fault codes, and it was not the normal ping and the sound of air coming out which I do often hear. This was a definite pulsing sound

First time I jacked up a back corner so I could check and clean the brakes I wondered what the hell was going on. The more I lifted the wheel up the more that side dropped then I realised it was just trying to stay level! :)

After the ignition was off the only normal thing is that if a door is opened and load is removed from the vehicle the exhaust valve to open for a short(continuous) time and the end to drop about 20mm, any other ''relevelling" or clicking are not normal even though it happens in many cases without ill effects... IMO it's a residual voltage somewhere which tricks the ECU with a faalse crank signal ort something

mine is behaving exactly like in the system's description so that's normal, the rest are LR oddities

I heard the same noise once over Christmas when I put the battery on charge. I had mistakenly left it on the high setting and had not remembered to lower it to its minimum. I wonder now if it is the ABS, which was re-wired as part of the 3 amigos fix
