Hello all,

Can I have some advice please regarding my suspension on my 2004 Discovery TD5.

A couple of weeks ago she was cruising along as normal then the airbags just dumped all the air and I managed to limp home on the bump stops very slowly.

The next morning I started her up and it went straight back to normal and all was fine for a while , then the other day I parked up and noticed the near side was inflated as far as it could be and the other side was as normal.

Ive had her parked up ever since and ordered 2 new height sensors which are here now.

Over the past few days the air has disappeared again and she’s on the bump stops again, But this time when I start it up there is quite a loud air leak on the near side and it wont lift at all.

Would I be right in thinking the airbag had had it and needs changing also?.

And would it be necessary or good practice to change both as this has happened?.

Many thanks in advance for any replies

All the best

Tom

Hi. First of all you should figure out exactly where the leak is coming from on the near side, the compressor area or from the bag, can be even a pipe.... usually a bag leak would let the other side rise and doesnt drop while driving...it must be a very serious bag leak to exhaust all the air just like that but if it is better replace both bags at once an keep the good one as spare

Many thanks for all your advice got it sorted now , 1 air bag was ripped to shreds so I replace both and the height sensors , had a slight problem , started her up closed the doors and nothing at all and I was worrying that I’d burnt the compressor out , so I jacked the axle up higher the tried again and it all came back to life thank goodness.
Anyway thanks to you all again

Another warning about going underneath on ramps.

Make sure suspension is not live as if you push up slightly it will let air out and then not rise when you pull.

This happened to me when replumbing ACE
