D 1 rear door and boot opening problems

On both the rear passenger door and back door of my disco 1 you have to lift the lock plunger at the top while pulling the handle to open them after theyve been locked (bit of a pain for the boot as i have to climb over)

Solinoids can be heard clicking and move the plunger up and down but not quite enough so do i need new solinoids or is it the spring (sticky at the top of this section) that needs replaced

It'll be the springs, just done mine and the details in the sticky thread are spot on.

Hi yep it will be the springs 2 hours to strip each door 2 minutes to put the springs in

I had the rear door to bits yesterday (didnt remove the lock) and wasnt too bad

Best place to get the springs ?

2 hours?! Do you mean for each door or to do all of them?

I'm pretty bad at these things. I did my driver's side rear in less than an hour - and that included me getting confused and changing the wrong spring, then disassembling the door because I couldn't understand that I'd accidentally flicked the child lock

The one I changed had been getting on my nerves - very time you'd pull the handle and the lock would flick back down. It's so much nicer now it works again!

Springs are cheap on eBay, very satisfying job to do if you aren't a pillock like me

Don't lose an eye whilst trying to fit the new one

I've got the same problem with rear door but mine will not open at all from inside or out.The actuator is moving with remote but not operating the latch.
How do I get the door open ?

You can remove speaker and doorcard with door closed from inside boot (mite be a pain) and depending on your problem you should be able to pull the wire that operates the door catch

But first try pulling the plunger up as far as you can while pulling the inner door catch ,however if child locks are on you will need an assistant outside to pull the handle
mine opens that way but it takes some force

Hi yeh sorry 2 hours to do both front doors it was a crappy job door frtame top , glass . locks everything has to come of just to pop 2 little springs in

Ah I didn't realise it was the front doors, they sound like a pain!
