My disco 1 starts up a dream but as soon as you give it any rev's and release the pedal it chugs and dies. I have noticed there is air bubbles in the fuel line coming from the body but no leak. Can anyone help me with this please?

Sounds like the typical fuel feed pipe cracking where the pipe goes through the nylon/plastic fuel tank lid. You need to peel back the carpets and foam backing in the boot, open the cover, 6 screw, probably rusted, and check the top of the fuel tank cap for leaks in that area. Mostly doesn't actually leak too much diesel, and therefore hard to detect, but a leak here can and does draw air into the system.

I would suggest that,assuming it's not an EDC auto, you have a fuel supply problem.

As has already been said it could be the pipes corroded on top of the tank, but it could also be a blocked fuel sedimenter (very common) or a blocked fuel filter, or a malfunctioning fuel lift pump.

If it were me I would go for this order:

1. Check & clean fuel sedimenter;
2. Change you fuel filter;
3. Check and replace as neccesary the pipes/connections on top of the tank.

Good luck and a Merry Christmas to you

Dave
