The lift pump was working for a few minutes while i was bleeding the system out, then stopped working, ie was sucking and blowing air from both the in and out ports.
I then replaced the lift pump a few days later, was bleeding the system out again, and then guess what? the lift pump failed! same problem as stated above. this is getting quite ridiculous now :D

If its "sucking and blowing air from both the in and out ports" then its not failed at all - its pumping, just you are presenting it with air at the IN port, and not fuel.

Im hoping your description is wrong?

It can suck and blow air out of the same port instead of pressurizing when i put my finger over the other port, i'm sure they have failed.
