Cummins engine links??

anyone on here have a link to a build using one of these engines???? Tempted to offload the 300 for one of these beasts
Which Cummins engine? The 5.9 straight 6 used in the Dodge Ram as well as other things such as some Fastrac tractors is a wonderful engine. But it’s massively heavy.

Big power and torque for sure. But will make any Land Rover extremely nose heavy for any on or off road use. And frankly the Land Rover drivetrain from the axles to the gearbox and all bits in between are not going to be up to the task.

If you are meaning the 4 pot. There are a couple and older one. But it’s heavy again. Really you’d be better served with a Td5 or Puma motor most likely. Or there is a new 2.8 motor built to swap into US Jeep Wranglers. You buy it as a kit. But it’s f’ing expensive. And again not really many gains over a TD5.

A good Rover V8 swap or Chevy LS1 is arguably a better swap than the big diesels. And I say this as an absolute fan of the big Yank diesels.

If they interest you. Read up on the 6.6 litre V8 Chevy Duramax Diesel used in the GM trucks and the Ford Powerstrokes.

That cummins 4 cylinder would be a good choice should fit right in and have more than enough HP/torque for a defender. With some tweeking close to 300hp is possible. Then Guys in vegas that do diesel rat rods/vehicles did 1 3.9 4bt and got over 300hp with mods to the engine, twin turbos, injector pump and injectors. Here is a youtube of a jeep with a 4bt. Youtube has alot of jeeps with 4bt conversions.
 
The 4BT is pretty cool. But somewhat hard to find in the UK most likely. Plus they still weigh in at around 760lbs I think (vs 900lbs for a 5.9 6BT)! I think a TD5 is more like 500-550lbs and even those make a 90 somewhat nose heavy off road. At least compared to an RV8 90.

If you aren't doing big annual mileage a 4.0/4.6 RV8 with some mods and 200-250hp is a hard combo to beat in a 90. With EFI they should still run low 20's mpg on a run, be pretty quick and have much better balance off road and in the corners.

look in industrial equipment, That was a engine of choice, from back hoes, small front loaders, small excavators, and lots of other farm stuff also even some tractors of various makes, even combines used cummins engines and don't forget boats and stationary plant equipment and maybe dumpers. And could also diesel generators and pumps
