My cruise control won't work, I press the switch on the dash, red light comes on to say it's on

then I hold the switch on the steering wheel for 3 seconds (tried just pressing it too) and it doesn't set my speed, and yes I am holding the speed steady when I activate it

Any ideas/suggestions?

sorry mate, cant help... I did a retrofit on my TD5. but I know for certain they work in a differnet way on the v8 models!

Hold on... Just a thought though!!!

I replaced the brake light switch on my TD5 as it was broken. Do your brake lights work??? as the switch was a three pin for deactivation of the cruise control...??

Anyone?
Anything?

I might have to drive from Aberdeen to Bognor Regis on Thursday night then back to Aberdeen on Tuesday and I really want my Cruise Control working

Hi Tweets, the most common problem on LR cruise controls is that the vacuum pipe ends perish, so cut off the last half inch and then reconnect.

Normally that fixxes it.

PS Assuming this works, wrap plastic adhesive tape round the ends, stops it going again.

OK Open up the bonnet, look towards the back of the engine and to the left, you will see, a black pipe with a 'T' connection, these are the vacuum pipes.

Chzeers (it's my birfday)

Dave

Thanks for the birthday wishes - it was GREAT, got to bed this morning at 3.15am, after dinner with 18 friends, by a lake, ending in a huge firework display.

Feeling slightly tender this morning, so no mechanicking today  :) :p  ;)  :D

Tweets, had the same prob with my disco v reg, the pipes will be spilt at the ends, just replaced mine with washer clear pipe, its a lot cheaper and stronger, with no probs, just warm the ends in hot water and they slip on nee bother.
If your not to sure this is were they go.
One end comes out from behind the foot pedals, this connects to the dump switch above the brake pedal ;) , follow the pipe along the back of the bulk head to a T peace, that goes down to join onto the Actuator on the back of the throttle linkage ;) , the last end goes around the washer bottle and joins onto the Vacum pump witch is under were the jack goes, ( use a mirror to see the two outlets, the pipe goes on the black one ), bingo it should now be tickerty boo.. :D
