Hello,
I have just become a very proud owner of my first Discovery, a 1996 300tdi ES.
Everything in the car works perfectly except for the cruise control. I have read the in car manual and followed all the instructions, eg: activating the cruise control while doing over 50. I press the button in that looks like a motorway sign and the light comes on as normal but when i use the control on the steering wheel nothing happens, so obviously it isnt working.
Does anyone know of any known problems for eg: a fuse or a relay which could of gone that that would stop it working.
Regards
Archie

All the discoverys I have owned have had cruise control but none of them ever worked! It is usually corroded pipes as it works on a vacuum i think. Also some cruise controls won't work if the brake fluid is low - a safety thing.

Thanks to you both for the replies, i will check the pipes that come off the cruise control compressor, there are 3 pipes running off it, ones about 8 to 10 mm thick (black) and the other 2 are about 5mm thick, i will check them all and keep you posted.

Cheers

If people had to send this forum half the Dealer Charges of all these fixes, Slob would be a millionaire by now!

I fitted the two switches to my TD5 Disco today .... half an hour the whole job .... Cruise Control works like a sweetie.

Got all the bits next day including great instructions and a template from Melanie Davies [email protected] for about £50.

Excellent service. I suppose it would eventually be possible to get the switches a little cheaper but not tomorrow!

Recommended DIY job for all Disco 2 Owners

i had the same problem, cracked hoses, the one under the tire jack was cracked so i cut off the end put it back on and it works fine
