Yes, I am a VERY slow 'observer'!! But I am ancient. .... and a woman. :)

I have had my disco TD5 ES from new and it is now 14yrs 4mths and 3 days old but I have only just noticed that although there are cruise controls on the steering wheel there is no switch for it on the dash. - you can see that I have never tried to use it!!!! Does this mean that I have cruise control or I don't have cruise control?? :confused:

If I do want it, what would I have to buy to get it working or will it not be possible at this stage?
 
I take it you know the little LCD panel in the rear view mirror is a guide to where you are and also what it will be like when you get there!

N - near

NE - Nearly there

E - Everywhere

SE - Sunny Everywhere

S - Sunny

SW- Sunny and wet at the same time

W - Wet

NW - Nearly wet

Yes, I worked that out two years ago. See, I'm not that senile - yet! But, I don't use it 'cos I like all tours to be mystery ones. :) :) :)
What I don't understand is why the weather forecast changes every time I go round a bend.:confused: :confused: :confused:

That is just what I thought after reading the link given by a previous zoner so I am now on the case. I think it will be good to use it on the motorway drive from Calais to Brittany in my up coming holiday. I should have thought about it a good few years ago as I travel that route at last once every year and always end up with a stiff right ankle. :rolleyes:

I gotcruise control fitted on mine, switch was dead easy. Pull out dummy switch remove cables, plug cables on new switch and push back into dash board. What a difference. What I did find driving on British motorways is 65mph was the best speed as you get long spells of driving before you have to touch the brake or accelerator.

The more I think/read about this the more I cannot believe that I have not thought about it until now. :eek: The journey from home to Folkestone is a good 5/6 hours all on motorways and this enhancement would make the whole drive much better. Its a pity it is a bank holiday weekend as the earliest I can get a switch delivery is next wednesday.
 
Fitted cruise control years ago and its fantastic, dont have it on my project discovery and really miss it
The kits have shot up in price so its good you have most in place, you wont look back unless of course your look in your rear facing weather forecasting station:D

I do find it a bit strange that the vehicle was supplied new with only part of the system installed. I would have thought it would have been all or none.:confused:

I just can't wait for next week as I think this is going to be the first job I :)have felt able to do myself!
 
Done it!!!!!! And it works. Switch ordered and delivered from Rimmer Bros in under 24 hrs AND they match the price offered by Paddocks, and their postage was cheaper,too.

Many , many thanks for all the replies that encouraged me to have a go. If all the jobs on my Disco were that simple .......

:DParts are fitted to the cars when being built. L/R want you to have switches fitted at L/R dealers , I was quoted about £240 to have this done when my D2 was new I bought the 2 switches for about £32 from an independent dealer, main dealer made the excuse that I would not be able to fit parts myself, enjoy.
