Can't find it mentioned in RAVE or any other post, so can anyone tell me if the cruise control pump is the same on petrol and diesel P38's? Obviously the linkages are different:doh:

Cruise control on the V8 is powered by vacuum. On the diesel it is electronic. There are no linkages at all on the fly by wire diesel. So they are totally different systems.

I realise that control of the diesels CC is electronic, but isn't there a vacuum unit too, cause mine is suffering CC fault symptoms just like petrols do?

I'm at a loss if there's no vacuum involved, cause it behaves just like a small inconsistent vacuum leak, e.g. cruise will sometimes set fine and drive fine for anywhere between a few seconds and 1/2 hour then cut out and return to manual control, and then sometimes it will reset and re-engage and sometimes not. At other times it will not engage at all???? I'm guessing some sort of sensor failure maybe? Do the symptoms suggest any candiates???

On the V8 the vacuum is used to balance the set speed on the throttle body via a cable. Opening or closing the throttle as required. As there is no throttle body on the diesel, the throttling is done electronicly so the cruise is done that way also. The vacuum pump on the diesel is for the EGR. Maybe the switch on the brake pedal is faulty.

Cheers Wammers, just sussed that pump was for EGR from wading through RAVE. It's position threw me, being where CC pump would be. Any ideas from symptoms above?

Pretty much same as my cruise was doing, cruise control switch converter relay (err 4277) under drivers side dash, I did post something about it couple months back on another thread.
