Cruise control ECU

The cruise control ecu on my '97 300TDi auto has packed up. I have tested everything else in the system and all is fine.
Is the one for the V8 compatible?
Or does anyone know of a reasonable price supplier of 2nd hand units?

I can help u with the first part. The answer is No, the one for petrol AMR1173 is different to that of a diesel AMR5441.

Thanks Discool. Maybe I should have worded my question better. Has anyone fitted the V8 cruise control ecu to a TDi or is anyone aware what the differences are?
Looking at them there doesn't appear to be much if any different between the way they work. They both operate a vacuum pump and are controlled by the same systems.
It seems to me that secondhand a V8 C/C ecu can be purchased cheaper and are more common then TDi ones.

Did you know that there can be a problem with the soldered joints inside the ecu and some times only need retouching with a small soldering iron.
