Cross member first!

I was very pleased with my rear cross member as it "seemed" to be pretty rust free. Unfortunately it seems the rust has come from the inside and now has appear as a tiny hole on the outside, it's less than half a five p coin in size. I've smothered the area in anti-rust and will jet wash the inside area asap.

What do you suggest I do?

Now for the blower:

I've noticed that the screen de-mister on the passenger side is REALLY powerful while my side is quite feeble. Is this because the air is drawn in from the passenger side? I just thought i'd ask before I go taking the dash apart to solve it for myself!!!

Thanks in advance!!

As you say, get it cleaned out really well, if you leave big rust flakes then whatever you do will just cover it up.

Then get in there with some rust converter as best you can, then when its dry, flood the thing with waxoyle.

The whole lower dash area has a big channel in it, the air is pushed in there from the fan box and then can go up to the demisters or footwells, there is little pieces of flexi pipe that take the air up to the demisters, it could be this has come off on the drivers side.

So it might be worth taking the guage cluster off first and see if you can see into the back where the pipe runs.

Thanks disco, i went out in the rain last night, removed cluster, fcound the hose was not snuggly fitting into the vent, seems I have been keeping my speedo cable nice and vented!!!

Works a treat now and ill be able to see when I drive from now on!!

Off to buy some waxoil today. Think i might use a drill to make the little hole a nice circular shape and treat it super thoroughly. Then use the hole as access for some waxoil!!

Aye, can you weld?

If you can weld, and the rear crossmember is a bit rusted you could use a hole saw to make it nice and neat, then use this to scrape and vaccum out the rusty ****. Then you could: A. Weld in the piece you drilled out if it came out cleanly, or B. Cut another piece and weld it in, sand it paint it you would never know it was there and it lets you get into what is a difficult area.

The problem I found on my old chassis was once its started to rust your only going to seal it in unless you can get at it and clean it all out, remove flakey bits.

If you hit a chassis with a hammer you can hear the crap falling off inside, getting it out isn't so easy
