I have a landy 110 pick up that I am attached to, the better half has now pointed out that I need a car that fits the whole family (us and 2 kids), I agree she has a point but don't want to let the car go. I asked a specialist about converting it to a crew cab and they quoted over £10k, which I neither have nor am willing to spend on this. Is it possible to do it more cost effectively, do you know anyone who could do this sort of conversion in the Kent area?

Thanks in advance...

Morning and welcome

This was discussed recently,

Iirc , there is a lot more to it than you think and it gets complicated and expensive quickly, the response seemed to be you are better off PX and buying a crewcab already sorted.

However if you do decide to try it, then let us know who you get on. Lots of piccies.

Cheers

Curses, I did search but couldn't find anything. I thought that could be the case.

If I could expand the question (again I looked but couldn't seem to find a definitive answer) are there any other options for additional seating in a pick up (ie seats that fit in a flat bed, or benching the sides of the bed etc).

I know I may be clutching at straws here but I am hoping for the impossible I guess.

To convert to a double cab you’ll need the body panels. And interior bits. And I suspect the chassis has different moonting points too just as the Station Wagon does.

Certainly not an impossible job. Best bet would be to source and price up all the parts and then get an estimate for the labour in hours and then an hourly rate. But honestly can’t see it being cheap.

What age is your 110? I don’t think the double cab case out until the Td5. If yours is earlier then there might be a few more subtle changes.

Converting a pick up to a hard top should be relatively easy however. And you could put windows in the sides and potentially fit side facing seats. But check your licence let’s you drive a Vehcile with that many seats. As it may end up being classed as a mini bus of sorts. There maybe other ‘grey’ areas on the legality of fitting such seats too.

I might have to look into converting into a station wagon then, I notice in the history that it started as a station wagon. Thankfully I am almost as old as Methuselah so licence is not a problem.

It will be a two door with a rear bulkhead will it not? Hows that gonna work with seats in the back?
