We've been advised that the canvas for our Jurgens off road caravan is made by Howling Moon. Trek Overland are the only distributors of Howling Moon here in the UK. We ordered and paid for a replacement last August 2008 but still waiting (June 2009)! we finally decided to cancel and obtain a refund. This was on Trek Overland finally telling us they couldn't deliver. Throughout this episode we had to continually chase them over the months firstly by email and then phone, were told it was due to a shipping container issue, then asked finally for the model/year during June this year as they can't actually order without knowing this and ultimately that it is now in fact Howling Moon's fault. We received nothing but feeble excuses and bad communications from Trek Overland. Disgusted in fact at the way they dealt with us and we could go into far more detail but we don't feel they're worth it type complaint. We also experienced a similar situation with them when trying to obtain a 2.4 x 2.4m roof tent from them previously. Again, following a huge wait and again very bad communications, we eventually obtained a refund for this also (hence the caravan option, hopefully a bonus in the end) . A complete waste of almost 2-years effort with them. Very disappointed. Not sure if this is normal practice or just us but we are not happy bunnies and won't be using them again. Think we've exhausted the benefit of the doubt here. Meantime looks like we'll have to make do with a tatty caravan for our shake-down trip this summer - but we'll live with it (might be a good thing). Moan complete. Just had to off-load - so annoyed.:(

That's rotten. Been reading your site and your plans sound amazing.

One useful thing is you have the perfect template in your current canvas. There do exist bespoke canvas/tent fabricators - perhaps you could talk one into doing a replacement for a bargain price as a sponsorship deal in return for a prominent logo on your trailer and website etc?

There is a place in Rawtenstall which will make a canvas to your sizes, or even easier, copy one that you bring into them.

I had a beautiful series 3 LR canvas made a few years ago.

If I can find the name I will post up.

These people ..

Triopair

Did a fantastic job on an awning of ours (for the caravan) ... not sure if they'll do a complete refurb or replacement but they might be worth a call or email.

PS, nothing to do with us, I heard of them, tried them and got really good service from them so happy to recommend them. ;)

Thanks all for support, contacts and alternatives. Your're right - it was Anthony who offered originally (way back, when). But at this time (with time on our hands at this stage) just thought we'd try to go for an original replacement as surround is good, properly treated and includes zipped mozzi air vents/side panels etc. We had initially tried a guy in Netherlands following earlier first non-related failed attempt with TOverland but got referred back to TO by default as the appropriate UK HMoon outlet. So we thought at this stage, maybe we'd just got unlucky (but remained uncomfortable through the whole affair which was justified in our view in the end) and gave them another go. We're just making one last ditch attempt direct with the factory in South Africa ourselves now (we are willing to arrange the courier etc. to import the kit ourselves) to see what this brings and if we can organise quickly (even if means fitting a bit later on than planned). Ideally if could get the proper rig for it, we think would be the best. But, if no luck on this score, will be on the case to the contacts you've all provided direct. Gracias amigos.
