It's not the normal newcomer ' how do i remove ' thread, but i'm seriously stuck here folks.

I had a job and a half getting the crankshaft damper off the other week, it was on seriously hard, but now the gear itself is absolutely welded on.

The issue i have is the space between the gear and the casing is too small to get a gear puller or something similar in, i tried with a puller yesterday and clamped it closed so any small movement would push the feet behind the gear, but no joy. I even grinded down the puller feet abit so i could slip them in but the amount they gripped ( possibly a few mm ) was too much as the feet snapped ( a gamble but i'm running out of ideas )

I've tried heat, lots of it, soaking it, shock spray ( does it ever work? ), hitting it, talking to it, shouting at it and i'm considering hanging the engine from something via the gear and jumping on it ( the tying a towrope to the gear and strapping the engine to a trailer and going for a drive has crossed my mind ).

Does anyone have any idea as i've exhausted all my own knowledge on getting the damn thing off.

All other bolts etc have been easy to remove, even the crankshaft nut came off with an adjustable spanner...

Posted on here as it's likely to get more views than on the other project thread in the Def section.

Cheers in advance :D

put a few pics of it up and i might come up with some genious solution im in the mood fer a challenge just a shame im not mobile so i can get me fekkin hands on it

Ooooh guess wot I dun today:D

I might've been lucky but this worked for me

A 5mm bolt screwed into the holes on the crank, molegrips gripping past the head and a screwdriver to lever through the grips and on the end of the crank. I did spend some time gently tapping the sprocket, as if I was trying to tap it onto the crank, with a drift and spraying with gt40. I did nearly fall over 'cos it came off so easily.

hmm worth a shot, will go pick up some bolts tomorrow and give it a go, although the screwdriver will no way be strong enough, but it gives me an idea, cheers :D

it is.

the large disk goes over the crankshaft nose. Three long bolts go thru the disk and into the gear and the large bolt is screwed into the centre of the disk to remove the gear.

Quick phone call to the local Landy place and they'll remove the gear with the correct tool if i turn up with it in the back of mine for a £10.

Can't argue with that :D
