Courtesy Car Etiquette

Just took my car in for a service and I collected a Freelander courtesy car on my way out.

Now, I was about 30 seconds down the road and I noticed this little yellow light by the fuel gauge.

My reaction was..... "Oh for f**k sake, you f****ng c**ts"

Luckily there's a Tesco not far away but this thing was like running on fumes.

When I collect my car later do I have a go at them about it or is it acceptable to do that to a cusomer these days?

Personally I think it's a ****take.

I did ask for a new 4.4 Diesel Range Rover but they refused - Bastards

Anyway, I only put £6 in it just to get me around - that also made a feel a bit of tw*t at the checkout. :doh:

Courtesy Car Etiquette:

- See how fast you can go in second on the motorway.

- See what happens when you are doing 80 and suddenly drop it into 2nd

- Have a play at hand brake turns

- See how well freelanders actually off-road

- Find someone with an old freelander and offer to swap the wheels for a fee

no fuel is common-customers don't or won't pay for fuel. Easier to let them sort it out

it will say on your paper work how much fuel is in it.And treat it like any other rental.RAG THE **** OUT OF IT!

My Missus was given a courtesy car recently with little fuel in it and they just said Oh there's a garage down the road.....which was closed.

I say give it back as you found it - they charge enough for the work they do anyway.

I think it is common policy to recieve a courtesy car completely empty and return it similarly. It's the only way they can be sure of getting the same amount of fuel when it comes back!

Every time I've borrowed one this has been the case...

Mum got a courtesy car that ran out of fuel two minutes out of the garage. Luckily we were going down hill and were able to coast straight into a garage. Went back and complained and was told "we rely on the good will of our customers to put fuel in once they have used it, after all we think that's only fair."

I told her I had put a fivers worth in and will be syphoning out anything left once we get back later. She wasn't happy to say the least.

I thought it was normal to return the car with whatever it had before you left off. Whenever I've used a courtesy car, they usually had about 1/4 of fuel left.

never had a courtesy car - but hire cars always come full to the brim.

Had a Transit Van on hire the other week and that had to be returned with what it came with, in that case a quarter of a tank.

It's simple really. A hire car will come full and should be returned full. The hire car companies sign you up to this and have your credit card details and will bill you for re-fueling it at a higher rate if they need to put anything into it. This ensures that we return it full as no-one wants to pay more than they have to. I guarentee most people make sure that it's brimmed!

If a courtesy car (already free to you and at cost to the company) goes out full it always comes back with less. Everybody is "too busy" or had to "pick up the kids" and apologises but have not had the time to fill it back up! It has even been known for courtesy cars to go out full and return empty despite single digit or low double digit mileage use in the day. How do people use 60-90 pounds worth of fuel in 22 miles!! And their partners car seems to be miraculously full!!

Yes, it's annoying, but I guarentee that you will return the freelander on fumes to get back at the garage and not consider the next guy. Even if you do leave some in it, the next guy will probably use your leftovers return it empty.
