Coupled braking system

Hi all. Has anyone on here any experience of coupled braking systems on Land Rovers? I just bought a boat that weighs just over over 2.8 tons, when mounted on a suitable trailer, the whole outfit weighs just over 3.6 tons. So for peace of mind, both from a legal & safety point of view, I need to get a coupled braking system fitted.
I can get trailers with air, hydraulic or electrical braking systems. Does anyone have any experience of any of these systems, or have any idea who I can contact to supply & fit a system. I have searched for answers, but can't seem to find much useful info.

Sorry, forgot to add, the vehicle is a 110 V8 station wagon.

What is wrong with the standard hydraulic over-run trailer braking system?

I often drive with a twin-axled tilting boat trailer of a similar all-up weight and have had no problems at all!

The problem is that the legal max gross weight of a trailer fitted with overrun brakes is 3500kg. This is also the max plated trailer capacity of the 110 unless it is fitted with a coupled braking system, in which case you can get it plated to 4000kg when using coupled brakes.

Big separate hydraulic installation then?

E bay at the moment (defender) with complete air system set up.
Bear in mind air brakes can and do freeze up

He could fit an air dryer to system - most trucks have them these days.

There is no load in the boat, that is just how much it weighs.

Have you seen how much an air dryer is
Called an apu on the dafs iirc well over 4/500 pounds plus the vat!

most truckers use meths in the air system in the really cold climates.

does anyone have any diagrams of any type of coupled braking system?

I have a mate with a coupled system on his Defender, the previous owner was a farm contracter and regularly towed close to the 4 ton mark!

I've never actually looked at the system so can't really tell you more, but if you hit a brick wall I could go and have a nosy for you?

OK, will do, may take a bit as he is 15 miles from me and doesn't use it every day, but i'll do it as soon as I can.
