As a non owning wannabee L/R convert can anybody explain to me the approx? (I know the skies the limit) cost of conversion of a SWB hardtop 90 to County trim. I have noticed that affordable (to me anyway) Counties are few and far between but there seems to be plenty of hardtop or soft tops, inc ex MOD 90's out there. I appreciate it's a catchall question guys but I really would like some info even if it is "links" to sites or "go and buy a book"
Cheers

I appreciate the "helpful" comments, I realise it was a vague question but knowing next to nothing about 90's I thought a L/R forum was the place to ask questions for a newbie. All other makes of 4x4 sites seem to be more than helpful towards newbies and their "vague" questions judging by the posts I have read. If this is the level of support for newbies I think I'll vote with my feet. To all those genuine helpful L/R guys out there hope to talk to some of you at the show at Driffield on 13/14 May where maybe "silly" and uninformed questions might be met with a degree of patience and understanding, after all we all have to start somewhere.

If ya want a county for reasonable money try looking at ones with the dreaded 2.5 TD engine (pre 200Tdi turbo). Due to the engines repuation, these tend to be cheaper than counties with the 200tdi engine.

The pre 2.5 TD engines have an awful reputation for reliability, true they do have problems, but in all honesty if they are treated well then they are not as bad as they are made out to be.

Try any of the landy mags for addresses of people who sell the bits you would need (windows, soundproofing, carpet, rear tip-up seats, window surrounds and headlining etc)

Buy a land rover mag. Look in the classified ads. for insurance damaged vehicles and buy the parts you need. all at once if you can afford or bit by bit if you cannot . Also remember that there are extra bolt on bits from the chassis to the rear seats to make the seatbelts comply with the law. also try www.equicar.co.uk web search using land rover breakers
