So my disco has a crude 2" lift.. Done before i got it... Standard shocks and springs, lift done with 2" box section risers below springs.

So i'd like to rectify this by doing it right!

Would like to lower front/rear shock mounts for more articulation. Would like to uprate springs so i can tow/winch and dampers so i dont wallow like a jelly!

So questions are...

1. What shocks/springs/turrets/rear mounts?
2. Do i need + 2" springs with 2"dropped mounts? (surely this would equal +4" lift?)
3. Cranked arms required?
4. Do i need to remove the ARBs to make the most of the articulation from the dropped mounts?
5. Dislocation cones?
6. Spring straps?

Ta guys!

Have a read here. Post no9 is the one you want to start at. Its on another forum but details the pitfalls you will encounter.
After reading whats involved to do it properly, I think I'll keep mine standard!!!

theres a lot of questions there and to answer them fully would take a long time, best to search on here for the individual bits and then ask about specific details you are unsure of. Instead of such a large list

No the +2 springs will give u +2 inch lift. get sum +2 shocks too. the rest are more of optional unless u go more than 2 inch lift!
ARB's? as in diff lockers?

Thanks for the replies guys, I'm pretty aware of the pitfalls of doing the work and am willing to get on with it as the pitfalls have mainly been overcome by the previous bodger-bloke or me fixing the bodges :)

So having answered quite a few of the questions... I'll park a couple and concentrate on the theory...

So a set of +2" shocks and springs, I'll just stick with reputable brand rather than cheap-any-old-junk... having said that might try and call in some favours and see if a mate's mate fancies building a nice shiny kit.

Seems from searching that cranked arms aren't a requirement at 2"

So with the ARBs removed, or disconnected (thinking about fitting pin locks on the drop links for quick-release on-road control and off-road articulation) my question is will I need dislocation cones/spring straps? I'm kinda figuring that with no ARBs the answer's got to be yes?

I'm happy with how much clearance + 2" gives, seems more than enough for the rutted lanes out on the plains, but want articulation more than clearance for the pay-and-break sessions (used to do a little bit ofdrag racing... was a similar thing... broke-what-you-bought days at santa pod)

Hey B' o' B'! She's already running some pretty big ones and has had the arches cut out (again previous bodger-bloke)... wanna fix the poorly done 2" lift on bits of box section as spacers (yikes!)

Liking old man emu... not so liking the price, wondering if I can get some Nitrons for it.. will post link to site later if that's allowed.

Whats your opinion on the ARB removal?

This is the truck as it stands - http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f20/hi-disco-phil-108084.html

So if u have +2 springs with +2 shocks, dislocations cones are not needed. u can get like +4 or so shocks and same +2 springs and then get cones. doubt straps are needed

I had +2" springs & +2" dampers.....
I now have dislocation cones, as the springs fell out....
(My rear ARB was/is not connected)

So in effect you're saying +2" springs are a basically designed to take a heavier load (hence less sag)?

I've been under the car all weekend and as part of that found I have no ARBs already! I already appear to have spring straps, no dislocation cones and no dropped mounts.

So if I go with +2" terrafirma springs and dampers do I need to also use straps and/or dislocation cones being that I have no ARBs?
