I have just purchased a 03 facelift disco that has had the original radio changed to a Pioneer unit (with a horrible blue display! That I can't change!). Can anyone tell me what the original radio(s) were so I can return it to its former glory !

My 04 Disco has a Visteon 6500. There is a 5500 model as well, the 6500 having a CD player instead of the casette player. That's of course what the lower spec models had in them and they are quite adequate. Depends what type of head unit was fitted with your spec of car really, could it have been the high spec Harmon Kardon system?

I think that most of the aftermarket units are too blingy. Probably a sign of the times where many factory fitted units are now pretty good and it's only the young petrol heads want to change them, and of course there, the more garish the better.

Thanks do you know how I could tell if it had the harmon kardon system fitted ( I don't think it does due to spec of disco) think I will have a look on flea bay to replace it !

If the Harmon Kardon system is fitted, there's a CD changer under the driver's seat and an amp under the passengers. There will also be speakers everywhere!

Have a search on ebay for the Visteon unit, there were a couple on there in the USA, not that you possibly want one from there, but there's a picture, so you can tell what it looks like.

I will be taking the original one out of my freelander fairly soon, again an 03 model. If you are interested, drop me a PM.
